What's in a flower?
Have you ever had one of those moments where you see something with a new perspective and have that "hmmm" expression on your face while you stand back and inspect it from a distance? That's how I felt when we dissected flowers a few weeks back. With so many stresses in life and always having to run from place to place, it's easy to walk right by things and let them go unnoticed. I never stopped to inspect flowers and notice all the components that make them up. When we had the chance to pick apart a tulip and a gerber daisy, I got to see how completely different they were while still having some interesting commonalities. They each had female parts, male parts, petals, sepals and a stem but they looked very different. Now every time I look a flower, I can't but think about it's parts and how different they are from other flowers. With that being said, I've learned to slow down in life and stop and smell the flowers.
